Top 5 Mushroom Baskets/Bags

Mushroom baskets are a great way to collect mushrooms while you are out foraging. Not only are they convenient, but baskets allow for spores from the mushrooms you have collected to be spread throughout the forest to allow for future harvests!

As always, if you feel there was something we missed, feel free to e-mail it to us at MushroomBlog.com@gmail.com

1. Fair Trade, Dye-Free, Mini Market Basket 7-9"

This first basket is hand crafted in Ghana, West Africa and is 7 - 9 inches across and 4 - 5 inches tall (not including the handle). I like this basket because the colors are subtle and it is big enough to carry a decent amount of mushrooms without being so big that it is cumbersome.

2. African Bolga Ghana Basket Fair Trade (Colors Vary)

If you liked that first basket but want something a little bigger or smaller, this basket might be the one for you. This basket comes in 5 sizes (7 - 9", 9 - 11", 11 - 13", 14 - 16" and 15 - 17"). Just like the first item, this product is hand made so sizes will vary from product to product as will the colors. This makes for a very unique basket suited to your size needs.

Note: This product will come folded, this is not a defect, this is for shipping purposes, there are details on the Amazon page for how to re-shape them.

3. Mushroom Hunting Bag

This mushroom bag is 15" x 17" making it the highest capacity bag on our list. Stylistically it may not look like a traditional basket, but it is definitly a practical bag, especially if you anticipate harvesting a large amount of mushrooms. This bag is made out of tough tear resistant mesh and features a thick strap that you can adjust into a handle or over the shoulder bag. This product is made in the USA.

4. Ahyuan Ecology Reusable Cotton Mesh Grocery Bags (3 pack)

These grocery bags are perfect for foraging mushrooms. Made of 100% cotton, they are all natural and chemical free as well as machine washable. A big advantage of these bags is that they can be packed down for carrying in your pocket or backpack then opened up when you find a good patch of mushrooms.

5. Heavy Duty Mesh Drawstring Bag

This is the cheapest option on the list and while you might not win any style points, it will definitly do the trick. This bag still has mesh holes to allow for spores to spread after you have collected mushrooms, while offering convenient backpack straps for carrying. I will caution, because this bag is quite small it may be tempting to overfill, please be careful not to crush your newly found mushrooms.
